Since when 23 is young for a football player? If he was in his teens it might be apprpriate but 23 is the early prime age. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think he cuts it at mid table PL level. Originally posted by Username
Wickham has had more impactful performances for Palace than Gayle. Without Wickham up front last year we really struggled and when he got a run of games he showed he can do it. I'm not suggesting he should replace Benteke, but from what I've seen he's more useful to us than Gayle was as he fills a key position and, even if he doesn't score, he is involved in the game. He's also still only 23.

It depends on the position and type of player. For a big striker that will never really rely on speed 23 is young. As the tactical mouse of a player grows with the ability to buy free Kicks and play smart the player improves. It's clear with Players like Murray whose careers take off when they hit 28/9 and have that skill. Wickham is the sort of player who could potentially have a breakthrough and become a real handful. I'd like to see how he looks with the team playing well and getting balls in to him. I don't think he has had that yet and I reckon Benteke would have struggled last season for us as well. Benteke is fast approaching 5 yellow cards and hopefully that will coincide with a good game for us that we are in form for.

The correct answer. Now can we please move on & quit crying about Murray & Gayle finding the net against lesser teams

Play to Gayles strengths and he will score a lot of goals in any league, unfortunately he didn't fit our system of play.

Since the development of nearly every football player ever? People get too caught up with people like Messi or Sterling who come through looking ready made at 18, but the truth is for most players it takes far longer than that.
