Yes I noticed this, made the same assumption as you as to what happened but I guess it could just have easily been that there was bird s*** on the ball, Punch wanted to wipe it off and Townsend didn't - Punch then asked Pardew's opinion who said leave it, hopefully it will catch Moss in the face as retribution for his moody decisions. Incidentally, I actually (begrudgingly) think all his decisions were right except for Lukakus free kick should have been indirect.

Also I actually think Townsend delivery is very decent so I'm not disappointed to see either taking.

Such a shame then he ferked up the most important incident of the entire game, apart from that he was briiliant........................................................................................................not.
Agree about the freekicks, both taking turns will keep the keepers well shacking in their boots.

How has Lucas Lima got those stats for playing in Europe exactly ? Or have you added him on for comparison ?

Good point! I saw this on Twitter:

Makes me wonder how accurate this stat is. Unless - Lima being a common Portuguese family name - it's someone else who plays under another name (I think Pepe's family name, for instance, is Lima). But more likely to be be duff info I suspect.

Not that I'm defending him (believe me I'm not, I think he's the worst ref in the league and the stats back that up), more playing devils advocate, say he gets that right, Lukaku misses and then he allows Delaneys goal, that then becomes the most important incident of the game that he fecked up - the shame of it is, what could have been a minor error, turns into a major one because they scored. Admittedly I'd much rather he naused it up the other way round but we move on.

Yeah, it keeps them guessing when you have 2 or 3 people over the ball that could take the kick, much harder to defend too if you don't know which way its coming in.

Scroll down on the twitter feed and its the wrong Lucas Lima I think - seems this is a left back for Nantes rather than the dude from Santos that we are interested in.
