Anyone else do what I did yesterday when Pardew took off Kelly for Fryers? I shrugged my shoulders, uttered "FFS what a stupid substitution" and expected the worst. 1 minute later it was..... "OMG he's skinned their full back... what a cross.... GOAL!!!!!!!!!!" Also thought Pardew made another cock up bringing on Chungy so late but had to eat my words again as his delightfully floated free-kick was nodded home powerfully by Benteke for the late late winner! I love it when I get it wrong and AP gets it right!
Excactly my opinion at the time. Two subs, two instant assists. I'd thought that Fryers must have been doing something right to be making the bench, but part of me was convinced it was because of injuries alone. Couldn't have found a better time to 'come good'

Then I was shocked Lee was going to take the free kick when he hadn't even touched the ball yet. So I was happy to admit AP got his subs very right, and I was very wrong!

Just be careful everyone might just expect just a little too much the next time he steps onto the pitch. Easy does it! There might just be the start of some confidence and a little form in Zeki somewhere. lets help him along not slag him off. He might well get a little game time at Everton who knows.

Unless Bolasie is played out of position, that'd be Ward's task. Everton fans have been complaining about him playing on the right, so unless that changes he will be up against Kelly

When Ezekiel plays, it increases the number of Old Testament prophets in the team. Always a good thing. Shouldn't leave Joel on his own, and we have never really replaced Moses. And wasn't it JC who memorably said, it's only one cross...

Didn't he get a run of games on loan last season? And I don't recall the reports being over-complimentary. I'd love it if he did hit an exponential improvement curve, but there's no way I'd be sticking him in for Kelly unless we were well on top against inferior opponents and chasing the game (i.e. Sunderland). Edited by antipodeagle (26 Sep 2016 9.57pm) His problem was never to do with technical ability it was his head that meant he was unable to focus on his work. You don't get picked up by United and Spurs or play for England youth without having natural ability. If his head is right he has the potential to be an England left back given his pedigree but he also has the ability to self-implode mentally lets just hope AP has exorcised his demons and we get the lad playing to his potential.
