No league win since 2003/4 for Wenger. Ok they've won 2 FA cups in recent years but imo Arsenal would have done better with a change. It's tough but club owners can't be sentimental with who and when they appoint a manager.

Wenger lasts because he runs it like a business, makes them a profit and never complains to the press that he needs more money, in fact does the opposite and claims there is money but he doesn't want to use it. He's pretty unique in that way.

For us, we historically have to sack blatantly s*** managers while those with promise got poached. Circumstances mean that AP could be a bit of an exception if he turns out to be someone who has us finishing 9th-15th for several years. Good enough for us, good enough for him.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Wow. If anything, I was bringing it up to try and calm the conversation not inflame it. I meant in light of all the arguing about the manager, maybe we should look at it differently and think about how much time we should give any manager. Sorry if it didn't come off that way.

I wasn't having a go at you I was just expecting it to descend into another pro/anti Pardew thread like so many that have gone before. You really don't have anything to apologise for if anything it should be me as I was wide of the mark on this occasion

You hire people on the basis of competence - nothing else. Wenger, Ferguson and their ilk were/are competent. Should we have kept Holloway? or Warnock? No - because they were not competent. With Pardew it's the same deal - he needs to be retained or let go based on his level of competence. Is that too much to ask? Should we all be loyal bitches and pay hubby nearly 1 million a year to shove it up our collective arses? (Hoping Tomkins or someone is competent enough to do Dann's job on Saturday...remember, we need to be 'consistent', which is one thing Pardew is...)

I'm with you in that I don't need another tired conversation about the merits of Pardew. I don't post very often but been on here for years, mostly just reading and listening. I add in from time to time but I usually just catch up with what people are talking about. In this case, I thought there was a conversation to be had about how we approach managership. It's not about Pardew, really. It's about where the owners seem to be taking us, and what we should expect from the manager no matter who they are. So anyway. Pardew out. Or in.
