Maybe Pards will try 3 at the back, and Freyers and Mutch as wingbacks, like they did one game in preseason. It looked like crap, and didn't work well -- but hey, it would surprise Southampton! (Let me be clear, I am kidding. I think this would be a bad idea unless we were trying to bow out of the cup early.)

I think people are remembering how shockingly he was done for pace and the ball got squared to Bony (I think) who ballsed it up. That really was jaw dropping and suggests he wouldn't be an ideal full back. So he should be cover for DM but definitely needs minutes. Ledley to left back is a possible I guess (tho not at Southampton) . I'd be half tempted to see if Wickham could defend but we need him in cotton wool in case Big Ben gets hurt. f*** it. Play the youth team and drop in a few squad players who need minutes.

Winning breeds winning. We should pick as strong a line up as possible allowing for fitness. The mix of subs and starters may be tweaked (Chungy and Hennessey to start, for example) but it would be foolish to experiment for the sake of it just as the lads are getting a winning feeling back.
