if fiction is your thing, here is a page turner. "The bones of a Season".....the second part of a trilogy which started with ''the Charlton men'' by Paul Breen. Paul is a clown who has accompanied me to the Arthur to watch our decimation of his beloved Charlton in the Capital one cup. I do not normally consort with the enemy, but he is a top top man and maybe my favourite clown. Anyways, his first book had no references to Palace. Apparently the new book does. Not yet read it, but if it bangs on about Brighton being our real rivals and Charlton only really being an irritating afterthought who are third in the queue behind Millwall...i will take some credit. Paul is very much in the school of real football fans do not support champions-league t-shirt selling superbrands. Any eagle fiction writers care to pen a suitable reposte to Breen ? i am sure we can also spin a good yarn. Maybe start with the groundshare, pass by Coppell and take the story from there to their relegation to League One ! enjoy

IF the book contains the points you've highlighted, which you say come from you, and with which you presumably agree, what would there be to 'riposte? As neither you, nor I suspect, anyone else on here, has read the book, your post would seem a tad premature, unless you just wanted to give a mate's book a plug? Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Looking at the synopsis its a book about an Irish immigrant living in Greenwich, who likes grime and follows Charlton. This is the sort of book I may get a chance to read in hell! As an indie loving palace fan just not sure it's my cup of tea FFS a shameless plug on our page very strange.

No harm in him plugging his mates book although I'm not sure that anyone on here would want to read a novel about a Charlton fan as people tend to want to be able to sympathize with the leading character.

yup. Shamelessly plugging a mate's book. Apologies if i upset any of you. As hinted at, fiction books is not really my thing. I understand from the author that there are many references to Palace. But the book only recently published and not yet seen a copy myself.

After such shameless promotion on the part of the chap with the Italian name we should relegate this post to history. But if the book is about football rather than Charlton maybe it's worth checking out.

The sofa on the touchline was something else. Think a pikee dumped it there and they thought what a good idea we can have a competition and let fans sit on it during games.
