We've not seen Zaha get enough goal in his Palace career but of the goal he's scored their is something reminiscent of Vardy's style. Wilf seems to get his goals from chasing down oppositions and lashing it home, he has that speed and ability to get round is defender and put them off/force them into a mistake. His goal vs Stoke a couple of seasons ago and todays goal were similar; running through and lashing it. His other goals have also mostly come from one touch finishes, whenever he dribbles and shapes himself up for the shot, he usually drags it wide or harmfully into the keepers hands. Thinking back to when Suarez started off at Liverpool, he would twist and turn and then have a weak shot at goal. As soon as Suarez moved from a winger to a second striker he upped his goals, not just because he was more central but also because he reduced the length and effort of his dribbling. Both Vardy and Suarez built their game on being a worry for defenders; harrying and rushing the opp into mistakes, racing on to chances and just lashing it. Could Zaha do the same? He needs to work on attacking positioning and hold up play, we saw him inefficiently play sort of a seconds striker role when we were without Bolasie last year. But I think this year Benteke is much more of a predictable target man and can provide better flick-ons than Wickham. The reason I'm saying this is sort of in the light of losing Bolasie and being without Remy for whatever length of time added to the fact that we do sort of shift between 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 in matches and at some points today Zaha was that second man up front.

I love wilf but I don't think he has the composure in front of goal to be a regular goal threat. And being a mental thing, it is a lot harder to coach/improve. You are right...he is a worry to defenders, but more with his dribbling and close control. If he did play centrally I think his decision making might see him struggle. The benefit of playing wide as he does, the game all happens inside him which makes that part of the game a bit easier. I see his long term future playing wide right to be honest.

Wilf doesn't dive as much. Really.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Vardy and Leicester will be one season wonders. I hope Zaha has more than that with Palace.

..wasn't he a few weeks ago a complete waste of space and a player who couldn't cross or pass to somebody without having to beat the same player over and over again pointlessly, I'm sure he was.

saw a much smarter wilf this weekend, his cut back pass on the ground to Benteke (who should have done something with it) was not his usual fast and high cross.
