Our players have pretty damn well considering most of them are as you say are championship standard.
Yes we have signed some good players recently but are they here for the ambition as they all bleat on about when joining or will they all jump ship if things go wrong, eg Townsend and Newcastle.
The heart and ethos has been totally changed by the ins and outs of players but have we done it too quickly and at the same time?
Ward and Papa will be next as they are not premiership standard then?

GT

We should just stick to signing championship grade players, so they don't jump ship when we inevitably go down....

What's with so many people being unhappy with us signing class players?

Beyond me

Bexley and tux have got it just about right for me.
We owe Jedi a massive debt of gratitude for the role he played in turning our club around ( not just him btw). But even through my red and blue tinted glasses it was CLEAR for all to see his distribution was putting us under pressure far too often and he didnt have the pace or athleticism to recover the situation. He couldnt step up to the level required of an ESTABLISHED Premier League side - which is what we want to be.
I'd rather we were an evolving mid table Premier League club than a sentimental mid table Championship club. (I have spent decades knowing that feels like ........sh*** - no thanks!

Even the most harsh of SP critics must accept he has done a truly astonishing job for us. From where we were to where we are in such a short space of time is beyond many of our wildest dreams.

I happen to think that we have lost a part of our heart and soul and captain and is there a simular leader to carry it on?
Everyone is entitled to an opinion so let's see if it works out or is another Adebeyor type signing.

GT

There is a leader. His name is Scott Dann. We are leaving our past, as a middling Championship club, behind. The whole mentality of the club is as a fixture in the Premiership, and that's where we must all see our future. This signing is just a reaffirmation of that intention.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

We've signed Flamini and people are still moaning?! Either on the wind up or somewhat lacking in football knowledge imho.

The obvious choice and probably our best and certainly most consistent player and did the job that our forwards couldn't last season.
Being a captain is not an easy role and think you need a certain edge personality wise like Geoff Thomas and Jim Cannon! Is Dann made of this material only time will tell.
There was no other option so a default choice.
In answer to everyone who keeps harping on about ridiculous comments about regarding so we should keep the championship players and not improve I'm sorry you obviously don't get my point and it seems your not capable of discussing subjects as anything against your opinions are not valid then just carry on in your rose tinted world.
Perhaps your right Jedi was s***. Cabaye has been wonderful especially his creativeness and free kicks.
Let's see how we get on as Boro will be a test and see what this new team can do. I'm sure if we continue our s*** run the old transition excuses will come out and and that is the point of keeping certain players ie Jedi. Pardews had more cash than any other manager and more time than any other considering our dismal win rate. I hope Flamini does well and hope he improves our midfield as that's been a real problem for us.

It will, but even if he's not good enough for Arsenal, I expect him to prove he's more than good enough for us. We will see...

I personally think Flamini is a brilliant signing. And if fit would be in my starting 11.

I must admit that I had to update my knowledge on him, but spoke with a gooner at work and he thought it was a nice bit of business. Still got a nice touch and has class. I'm more than happy to have a world class player on a free.

I'm just interested in Sgt. Bilko's view on this transfer? Anyone shed any light?

I think the club are insulting our intelligence with signings like this.

Parish said on talksport yesterday Flamini was a replacement for Jedinak.

Hold on a minute, if that's the sort of player the squad need then why jettison the mighty Jedi?

Flamini does not have the same connection with the club, the desire or can make as great an all-round contribution on and off the pitch.

He will not win as many headers, tackles or interceptions. He will not be as powerful on set pieces.

Will he convert penalties and free kicks from outside the box?

Pardew probably thinks Flamini is better, which is the real danger the club are currently in because he simple does not know a player or cannot handle big personalties that have done so much to put the club where it is.

Spot on assessment. Flamini is slower than winter in siberia. Pardew's transfer dealings have hollowed us out.
