In a few weeks i will be crossing the pond attending my first Palace match in 15 YEARS! i will be at the match vs Stoke sunday sept 18th. Was hoping for some help. My hotel is near Kensington High street station. What are my best options from there? Tube to Victoria Station and then Southern Train to either Selhurst or Thornton Heath Station?? Also, all i ever hear about is how brutal Southern trains are. How early should i leave to avoid any delays? Last game i Saw was vs Barnsley so i am absolutely buzzin to be back! Thanks in advance !

Yep, D&C line to Victoria and then a train to Norwood Junction. 11.54 will get you there at 12.46 and it's a ten minute walk up. Southern don't normally strike on weekends, it doesn't f*** things up for everyone enough for their liking. They are on strike on the 7th/8th already too.

from the experience of my girlfriend who uses Southern on a daily basis I can confirm "brutal" is an understatement for Southern

I take the southern from Victoria most matchdays. Trains are every 10 minutes usually, and are rarely delayed/cancelled. You'll be fine. Takes about 20-25 minutes. Bags are allowed, they just have a quick search. As long as you're not bringing any drinks in or anything you should be fine. Gates normally open just over an hour before kick off I think, so would be around 12:45. Wouldn't bother going in that early personally, but up to you of course. Have fun
