The thinking behind Snodgrass is that surely Hull City will be favourites for the drop with desperate situation of only 13 available players to pick first team from for last Saturday's surprising win against Leicester. With next to no activity within transfer window so far, it will be nigh on impossible to sustain such performance levels throughout a long and challenging season in top flight, with defeats surely awaiting if injuries occur that are bound to happen. Surely Hull would be best to cash in on Snodgrass and aim for additional players from lower leagues to bolster chances of survival?

Depending on crosses and corners as our main line of 'attack' is sterile and oppositon teams soon nullified this and consequently we had our 2016 slump. Benteke will make no appreciable difference unles he gets service through the middle - under the existing 'system' we have plenty of decent midfielders but no visionary capable of moving the ball foward and then releasing a telling through pass. It depresses me greatly that Pardew, speaking of Benteke, said we were the second best crossers last season - and where did it get us? Few goals and
