I've been getting quite misty-eyed looking at all these line-ups of Palace heroes on this thread. So here's my contribution of the first team I ever saw (v Aldershot - won 2-1) in October 1956:
1. Vic Rouse
2. Jack Edwards (captain)
3. Alfie Noakes
4. Terry Long
5. Len Choules
6. Jimmy Sanders
7. Peter Berry
8. Jimmy Belcher
9. Mike Deakin (scorer of both goals)
10. George Cooper
11. Bernard Harrison

Great days. Smashing team (photo attached). Woeful stadium (then).Best club in the world still. Up the Palace!

In the spirit of openness and honesty, I was a supporter of the opposing team

Where's Rash the Smash (Rashid Harkouk) :-)

Palace 0-1 Barnsley 12th August 1997

Won tickets in a free kick competition at school, which was incredible cause I was (and am still) totally crap at football. Neil Redfearn scored for Barnsley. I can remember the goal being a screamer from outside the box, but then again I was 8 years old so if anyone can actually remember it I'd be interested to know what really happened!

Haha, I was at that game, which seems entirely unremarkable other than the fact that my Dad would only take me to one game a season until I started going to Palace on my own around 2000, so that was the only game I went to that season.

I could be mistaken but was that the one where Wendy Toms made her debut as a top tier lineswoman?

Oh and the only other detail I can remember is I think that was the game where me and my Dad were stood at Selhurst station and our train just went straight through thestation followed by an announcement along the lines of "Erm...we're really sorry....that train was meant to stop at Selhurst....not sure what happened there".

I stand corrected, I was at Palace vs Barnsley on 19/04/1997. Knew it was 97.
