I think its only for E-tickets. When I booked tickets that were delivered to my home, I needed to prove who I was, because they went to the address of the card holder. Where as e-tickets can be printed anywhere and by anyone.

It was said on the Valencia e-tickets as well. No one was asked though. Probably be best to bring it anyway, though I doubt you'll be asked.
