all, i usually take my 12 year old nephew out to an away day. usually a great time for the 2 of us. initially, i was thinking about going to newcastle away since we hadnt found an away game that works with his school calendar this year. However, I just realized that this could very likely be the match that relegates newcastle. obviously, i don't want to take my nephew is there is a realistic chance of violence. what do you guys think the chances are? I've never had a bad experience at newcastle away before, but then again I can never remember them being relegated (or even us winning).

They don't have a reputation, but who knows if they are relegated at that match I remember Hillsborough when we won & it sent Wednesday down - there was a pitch invasion & they tried to attack us in the stand, some players were attacked trying to get off the pitch, stewards did nothing & even a bloke in a wheelchair got on the pitch worst time ever getting out of the ground & the old bill were useless
Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season? |

After the 3-3 they charged us outside but backed off when no one ran. If it's us that do relegate them I'd expect a few will want to cause a spot of bother after.

Just don't take a Sports Direct bag with you. Actually that would be a good wind up. Letting a load of those bags or balloons blow down form the away end. They'd love it.

Back in the late 70's or even early 80's, we had just beaten Newcastle 3-0. Standing on the platform at Selhurst station, waiting with all the hundreds of Palace fans for the next train to London, a little acne faced Geordie bloke, late teens or early twenties, about 5 feet tall and as skinny as a broomstick, was wandering around on his own asking random people if they wanted a fight. When he was told no, he then asked someone else. I can't recall anyone obliging him, though. I always think of how strange and surreal it was. He was either mad, stupid, or a bit of both!

At the end of the day, we're seen as lairy cockney's to all teams above Watford on the map. They don't like us and if we give it the big one after sending them down they definitely won't like it. If it's on the cards that we could be the team to relegate them, then I'd suggest staying away with your boy.
