He asked him why he wasn't wearing his badge, so the policeman arrested him in front of his 14 year old son. He took him to cells within the ground and assaulted him, claiming he was resisting arrest, despite already being arrested and being handcuffed at the time.

He was then convicted of a public order offence and banned from attending matches.

His conviction and ban were overturned upon which it became apparent another policeman had witnessed this and submitted a written statement.

WMP have had to pay a five figure compensation figure to him and the PC who assaulted him has received a final written warning.

Optimistic as ever

WMP have a deserved reputation of being football supporter haters. Former Palace director Geoff Geraghty used to have a go at them in the Palace Match Programme back in the 1990s. At Villa Park for the 1990 semi they treated us like animals. No love for that bunch here.
