Infantino won the first round but not with a majority. There will now be a second vote between him and the Sheikh.

You talk as if it needs to be a fair democratic vote, but like i said, who decided who would be the head of each FA in the world ? Not like that was democratic. But its not democratic, its business, and having world cups in places like QATAR is not good for business(except Qatari business).
It has nothing to do with it, the voting is simple "One Country One Vote" it is the fairest voting system. The Qatari vote had nothing to do with business more to do with one corrupt old fart taking backhanders to leave his mark on world football, and make a name for himself in history.

I found Infantino's trumpeting his abilities as a revenue enhancer in his speech (raising their revenues three fold) as evidence that for all their so-called "reforms," FIFA still considers themselves a money maker first. When they sell the new Hotel Astor that they own then I might start changing my mind. I also found it interesting that here in the USA Infantino's win was celebrated as an indicator that the 2026 World Cup would be awarded here. Our federation's head, Sunil Gulati, was lobbying other federations on the floor. Yet, we will tell anyone who will listen that we are concerned more about ethics. Comparing this vote to the World Cup vote is not accurate. That vote was of the ExCon, not the full assembly. From now on, it supposedly will be a vote of all associations/federation (presently 209, Kuwait and Indonesia were excluded from this Congress' vote due to alleged government interference). There has also been an undertaking never to award two World Cups at the same gathering. For me, I wouldn't want the US to bid for a World Cup until we have clear evidence that FIFA has cleaned up its act. I feel the same way about the IOC, which fleeced us in both 1996 (Atlanta) and 2002 (Salt Lake City).
