I hope Gayle isn't staying. He's just not good enough to get playing time. He's a striker that doesn't score goals or set them up. His form is embarrassing. I don't know how we're supposed to support him even if he's wearing a Palace shirt. At some point you have to draw the line at the what the standard is to play for Palace. To me, Gayle is not close to that standard, no matter how poor the striker situation is, because he is part of the problem. Edited by PalaceJam (01 Feb 2016 10.59pm)

Our strikers have hardly had decent service. Plus he's been out injured for 2 months.. Pards rates Gayle big time and for a very good reason. To single him out is just stupid, as Campbell, Wickham and Chamakh have hardly had the run of the mill in front of goal. Difference is, Gayle has scored a lot more goals than the other 3. So why write him off? Edited by Calzardi (01 Feb 2016 11.18pm)

If he can get his form to at least average levels, that's great... but I don't ever want to see what he was doing prior to that injury. The Dwight Gayle we saw early in the season was so poor that he belonged in League One. He can never play like that again. He has to do better. I hope he does because I don't like writing such negative posts about Palace players, but I was overwhelmed with joy at the thought of selling Gayle for any price. Edited by PalaceJam (01 Feb 2016 10.59pm) Rather tough criticism I would say given that he scores a goal every 2.90 appearances, with quite a few of those stuck upfront on his own, with very little service, or on the wing (especially under Holloway) whereas Zaha's ratio is 1 goal every 7.35 appearances. For comparison Clinton Morrison's ratio is slightly better than Dwight's, whereas Dougie Freedmans is inferior (and at one stage DF and CM played together)...I for one look forward to him being fully fit again and getting a decent run with a strike partner upfront, or some team-mates who can pass or cross with some consistent quality

He was many peoples MOTM, presumably you don't count the League Cup games, so considering we won most of the others he played in, you must really be holding his sending off against him

I am glad he is staying and when fit I believe AP will play him with a big man up front - then we will see what happens - we have nothing to lose trying it!

And just have a feeling that he could do well/score goals in a 4 4 2. The downside here is may be sacrificing Puncheon, but that does not seem a high risk move at the moment. When fit, Bolasie/JM/JC/Wilf across the middle could make for an exciting 4 4 2.
Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it.. |
