Mental health problems might actually be more common than you think. One in four of us will be affected by mental illness in any year.

Time to talk day - Feb. 5th.

For a lot more information about this.

I spent the last 16 years coping with clinical depression after a psychotic break when I was 28.

A psychotic break from reality, hearing voices, hallucinations that kind of thing. Fortunately that was short term.

I'm not sure Personality Disorders count as mental illness per se, psychiatric condition definitely...

Its hard, because the fight is not with something within yourself, but with yourself entirely. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. But in time you can learn to live with it. For me, Therapy and medication created a 'basis' I could rebuild on.

Perhaps not, but a good portion of the HOL suffer delusions which might be classed as nervous hallucinations. Just look at the ronaldinho thread...

I was looking if there was a Clarke Carlisle thread before posting on this one.

I feel so sorry for the guy, he is clearly struggling at the moment and to see the state of him in the brief snippets released by the Sun of his interview makes me feel really sad.

How an illness can debilitate someone who ordinarily has everything in life going for him is tragic; I just hope that he realises that after so many good wishes sent since his attempt being a spokesperson for the issue amy indeed give him the focus and sense of worth he feels he was lacking.

To whoever suffers from a mental illness I can only wish you the very best in your daily struggles and hope you find a way to not only cope, but move forward.
