Hammers fan here so go easy.... I worked for Virgin at the time of the 90 final, luckily got to go to both the first game and the replay. Only cup final I'd ever gone to until we got there in 2006..... I kept this shirt - looking back at photo's it obviously wasn't the type used, I think we had them made so we could give as gifts to clients. I also looked and I don't think you lot weren't even wearing the diagonal shirt that season were you? Anyway I'm selling it if anyone's interested:

Yes, that was supposed to be the away shirt for the season (minus the embroidery of course), however we wore it at Liverpool early on in the season when we lost 9-0, and the players thought it was unlucky. So although it did still got worn a few more times away that season (Forest and Millwall spring to mind), at other games we wore either the plain yellow away shirt from the previous season, or our home kit of red and blue stripes (at places like Spurs and Derby where the home team wore white) When Palace reached the Final, the club shop just got the white 'sash' shirts like yours embroidered in an effort to shift them (as they had tons of stock of them since the 9-0) In the final, Palace wore red and blue striped (United their white away shirt), and for the replay Palace players didn't want to wear the white 'sash' shirt (unlucky) so the manufacturers knocked up a yellow and black striped shirt, as it was captain Geoff Thomas's lucky shirt colours from his school team days (he had never lost in it, so suggested it)

I remember seeing the players warm up in that yellow and black kit and thinking 'wtf that ain't a palace kit'. Gave me a bad feeling from the start. That replay was brutal...
