1990-91 season was the first time I ever went to a football match. I was 10 at the time so my dad was quite careful to look after me. Sat in the AW in seats which are now used for away fans.

The main reason we went was because I had written to Mark Bright and he'd sent me a signed photo and a letter which included a note to show my dad saying "go on dad, take him to see Palace".

Thanks Bubbs. We were bloody good then.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

A nice little story James. I loved Brighty, and good on your dad for doing it.

Will always be my favourite player and all time Palace hero. Such a gent to send the photo and the handwritten letter (on CPFC headed paper) to a kid to keep them interested in the club. I believe the photo he sent me is on the gallery on this website. I have kept the letter and photo safe, would probably be the first thing I'd save if the house caught fire!

Too bad it was really Gillespie (just had a Brian Moore flashback) but you get the idea.

I went to 39 games that season. Most I ever went to by a mile but it was so exciting at the time you didn't want to miss anything as if you weren't there you didn't get to see it, you could only read about it.
