I was only 10-12 years old in the Pardew era but from what I remember of him he was completely and utterly toilet.I was young but all my family confirm that my young memory is pretty good.
For that we should be eternally grateful.
Edited by peterg (07 May 2014 10.34am) I believe he made the top 100 Palace players solely on the back of that goal. My favourite ever Palace goal, just seeing those scarves go down. I am sure my recording of the match from the BBC said that at the time he was the manager of Cheam Nomads, or similar, so years of experience.

I think Parish has some big decisions to make going into the close season. Personally I think he'll want to retain Pulis, even if he doesn't get on with him.

Reading between the lines of the various interviews TP has done recently, I think it boils down to this: 1. He has 2 years left on his contract and isn't about to walk. 2. However, he needs backing from the board to "upgrade" the club in all departments. 3. This upgrade will cost a fair bit of cash, but is necessary for the club to grow and establish itself in the top flight. 4. He is willing to take on the project but only if his relationship with the board, and especially Parish, is a good one and he feels he has the financial backing to carry his plan through to fruition. 5. If he doesn't get the backing he needs he will not be able to do his job and will be on his way sooner rather than later.

When managers say "I've got x years left on my contract", I always read it as a pretty evasive response. Honestly I wouldn't take much from media interviews at face value.

Obviously we don't know for sure but this makes the most sense.

I think it's all going to come down to whether SP and the board have got the nerve to go with the massive investment that TP is calling for in club infrastructure and playing staff. They've kept a tight budget since administration, been relatively cautious with spending and done really well to get the club where we are today.

We don't really know if Pulis is indeed calling for a "MASSIVE" investment ! That said, it seems clear that he is looking for ambition from the Board to 'Upgrade' the club on various fronts and IF of course there are fundamental disagreements between the Board and Pulis on the level of investment there can only be one outcome. Pulis talks very highly of his former Chairman Peter Coates and his family. It should be noted that the Coates family have invested some £90 Mill in the club ! I think it MIGHT be a few meetings, not just the one planned for next week, before there is an agreement between the Board and Pulis. And of course there might have to be some compromises along the way.
