I feel Ashley Cole may unsettle the squad, with tales of what he has achieved and how to do things. And be to big an ego to control. I think he would be a fantastic signing and, furthermore, a statement of intent whose arrival could attract other, better players to the club. Plus, I think Pulis would love him; he's a brilliant full-back and Pulis has always liked signings that demonstrate his ambition. He's attracted to big names; Lord knows he repeatedly tried to bring them to Stoke. Cashley has a fondness for Palace, doesn't have an enormous number of miles on the clock, seems to be in excellent shape and there's no reason we couldn't get two very good years out of him. With regard to ego, my view is that the strength and depth of the current squad when it comes to togetherness and attitude combined with Jedi's leadership would ensure this was not a problem. Beside that, I honestly don't think Parrish would allow the signing of any player who threatened, in communications/negotiations/interviews before any transfer, to be disruptive. Saying we shouldn't sign Cashley because of his newspaper caricature is a little unfair; he may (or may not) be a chav off the pitch, but he's never put in less than a shift on it and his team-mates don't generally seem to have a problem with him. Edited by sydtheeagle (23 Apr 2014 9.46am) If he chose Palace over the other offers he'll certainly get, I think that would be proof enough that his ego isn't an issue

With Cresswell being at Ipswich and Joniesta being very welcomed there... Here's a question for you; Would you be happy with some sort of swap deal, Cresswell for Joniesta?

Ashley Cole is 33. No resell value and limited optimum years left. I can't see the board letting him come here. If he was free, with only wages to pay, maybe.
Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers |
