My story: I'm the spawn of British expats, therefore I never had a legitimate english team to follow, because I didn't grow up as a "local", which was always a shame. Then I moved to London in 2012 and that was obviously the perfect moment to follow the local team, which was luckily Crystal Palace, which suited me just fine because I already had a soft spot for them. I went to a game on my first weekend after moving in. which was Palace vs Hull. A very lacklustre 1-1 draw on a rainy day. The stadium was virtually empty compared to now. Then they even got promoted, which was great, but a double edged sword because some idiots will accuse me of "glory hunting". Because supporting a team battling relegation is obviously glory hunting. I have been to quite a few games now, eventually got a half season ticket as a bit of a trial to see if being a season ticket holder fits into my life, sadly it doesn't, I have missed too many games to justify getting a ST again, so I'll sit next season out, maybe getting one again next year if I can't bear it. I really am glad Palace turned out to be my local team, how can you not love it? With the owners, the support, the work rate of the players, Chamakh's hair. Just get yourself a membership and choose your games. Welcome to the nutty world that is Palace. You do realise that when we next get into financial problems you have to protest at wherever the talks are being held Some of the new fan stories are great, nice to see you all following little 'ol Palace Apart from you Norbert 'cos I remember who you are!!!

You mock lads but I actually sell football merchandise and a few weeks ago I had a guy ask for a Spurs hat. I had a bit of a run on Spurs gear & told him I was out and have some in next week. "Ah f*** it he say's Gimme a Barca one then"

Cheers mate. Quote You do realise that when we next get into financial problems you have to protest at wherever the talks are being held
Of course, now I've adopted Palace I'm staying with it. Whether I move away and am therefore not "local" anymore, or whether they get relegated or bankrupt. But I'm sure the latter 2 won't happen too soon, CPFC2010 seen to know what they are doing and I doubt they plan on selling out too soon.

Been watching them too long to believe that something won't come up and screw everything up, that said, or owners do seem capable of coping with most things. i.e. our manager changes since they've been in control.

I started supporting Palace the moment the final whistle blew in the play-off final. Previously, I have supported Man. utd, Chelsea and Arsenal, but found their fans not to be very welcoming. They don't like it if you wear half and half colours, but it's so difficult to chose who to support when arsenal play Chelsea cos you don't know who is gonna win. At the start of last season I started to follow Brighton for a while cos it was easy and cheap to get a season ticket, but I dropped them when I realised they were sh#t and would never get promotion. I quite like supporting Palace, but I find Selsdon park a bit of a dump and the toilets and food leave a lot to be desired. I may renew my season ticket next season, but I'm looking into Leicester at the moment cos they have run away with the championship so must be really good. Norbert, you may be a supporter of this club at the moment, but you can only become a fan if you support us, or any team, through the bad times too. I welcome your support, but assume that IF we get relegated, you will stop supporting us. Selhurst Park (not Selsdon) is OUR dump. We love it. Support a club, not just any club who is doing well.

Quote Ahem, I think you should be using 'we' there.
Does that mean I've been accepted into the red & blue cult?

I'll start by saying that I'm in the U.S. (Wisconsin, if you're curious) and gave up on American Football last year and decided to pick a Premier League team to follow. The one thing that I knew for sure was that I didn't want to follow any of the teams that were at the top of the league for the last few seasons. After watching a few games (thanks to the NBC Sports Network coverage) I noticed how enthusiastic the Palace fans were and how loud they could be, even at away matches. With that, I was hooked. I've been dedicated to watching Palace matches every week and even going so far as to listen to the radio streams when the games haven't been on TV here in the U.S. (FA Cup matches.) I'm far from being a knowledgeable fan at this point, but I have spent some time with Football Manager 14, FIFA 14, and Pro Evolution 14 to try and pick up some information on tactics and learn more about the finances of the game. My 9 year old daughter has become a proud Eagles fan as well and we hope that we can get over to Selhurst Park to watch a match at some point in the future, but for now I'm just happy to be able to watch every match from the comfort of my home.

Worldwide domination will be ours. The next big question is how the club can reel you in and get you to spend some of your hard-earned to support the cause. I recommend a tithe.

I'll be adding some gear in the next year. Really like the look of the away jersey, but will probably pick up a home one at some point as well.
