I have been a bit of a keyboard warrior when it comes to Punch and KG but this last couple of games they have been superb. I am delighted to say I was wrong, KG has started doing the simple things and he looks like a completely new player, a good solid defensive midfield partner for Jedi and one that can also get up and help the attack.
Punch, well yesterday he got what he deserved. He game Ivanovic a hard time last week, almost scored and was a constant thorn in Chelsea's side. Yesterday he was a superb outlet, they were never comfortable when he was ont eh ball and his 2 goals were taken superbly, that is what he can do and probably why he has copped so much stick when he doesnt look like he is interested.
The tactics. Spot on. Tony Pulis take a bow. The last two weeks it really seems the players know what their roles are and that they can attack not jsut sit back. That is exactly how I wanted us to play against Sundrland and why I was so annoyed at how we did play but I have completely eaten my words. It was the complete performance, defending well, attacking with purpose but not going gung ho and looking like a team that has a purpose. Superb just superb.
Finally and as much as it pains me to say this, would Wilf get in our team? Yes he was class for us and I one hundred percent understand why people would have in back in a heartbeat, I would as well but only if the price was right. Yes it would have been hard for him yesterday playing against us but his decision making doesnt seem to have improved and his final ball still isnt quite there. He has all the tricks and skills but he had the beating of Wardy on pace, there were a couple of times he was one-on-one with Wardy with 30 meters behind them and he tried to overdo it and got tackled, at the moment give me Bolasie and Punch, Wilf could have learnt a lot from how Punch played yesterday.
We are on a roll, and very nearly there, lets shout the boys to pretty much safety next week, we will be from the pub here in Sydney. COYP
