Last year was better now we have had a few fairweather they would rather f***ing record it then join in. Last year when we played Burnley at home 2 0 down and the genuine roar of the crowd got the it back up to 4 2. Finished 4 3. Needless to say at the final whistle the Atmosphere was electric.

Sad to say, I think you are correct.

We may have attracted thousands more fans but they've done little to add to the atmosphere. In fact I dare say they actually hinder it. The atmosphere is still generated in the same old areas. I'm not saying I would prefer for us to have crowds of 12,000 again but it would be great if those new season ticket holders were as passionate about palace as the rest of us that slogged it out in the championship.

I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

You should have heard us in the 60's/70's.

The Holmesdale was terrace and hard to generate volume but we improvised, that was how "Glad All Over" took off with us young lads banging the advertisement boards.

We had it tough, you lads today don't know how lucky you are.....

We really need to stop talking about how good our fans are. Its so embarrassing, let our singing do the talking rather than looking for constant back patting.

Or maybe a bit of talking it up is self-fulfilling and encourages it to keep getting better. The Moan U fans are convinced their support is the most vocal in the league. But we are better and it gives us one thing to be proud of. Nothing wrong in taking pride in yourself and not so easy when you come from Croydon.

Its not getting better though, IMO worse.
At home it is definatly worse than last year, not sure if this is to do with the ticketing policy or that we have a lot more ST Holders and it stops mates getting seats together. I have noticed around me this season that some fans turn out for the big games and give their ticket away to fans that just come in and add nothing to the atmosphere, last year was the same faces week in week out and all passionate Fans.Am not saying that everyone has to sing, clap whatever, my point is that all this self appraisel is nonsense.

Halcyon days, it was the old stand doing a lot of the singing as it had the boards and wooden floors to bang. But we sang 'bits and pieces' first, 'glad all over' came later. And you could stand at the front of the old stand, which was absolutely brilliant although only fairly narrow front to back.

The best times I remember were when the older Holmesdale types all moved to stand in the Arthur under the gantry, got a really big singing group there.

You're right but we have had certain days when it's been really good. Honestly, I put it down to lack of excitement on the field, hard to keep going when there's so little to boost the fans.

I don't agree at all that it was better last year. Maybe the odd game, or that we had much more to cheer about makes it seem that way. Definitely much louder this season and more sides of the ground joining in. The call and response with the Arthur is getting better as well.

Agree I'd rather we didn't bang on about it though just makes us look self-interested. But I guess this is the facebook 'look at me' generation.

TP, Jedi, The Chairmen and the columnists have mentioned it in every single programme this season - I think thats more than enough.

Having said that - the POTY will be a raucous affair im sure and of course they'll thank the fans. Got my tix sorted !

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely

Some of the evening games in the 70's I could hear the noise of the crowd from my back garden. I lived near Norbury Park.
