Say what you like about Jordan, but he spunked about £50M of his own money on Palace. Someone suggested he "royally screwed us".... wrong ..... he tried to be a benefactor, but his incompetence and arrogance were his downfall. I would look in Noades direction if want a culprit that "royally screwed us". How did he manage that, he never had £50m of his own money? I would bet you that he took out about as much as he put in and as we all know he was trying to borrow against the future youth players at the club. You needed to read some of the things that came out in the admin period, Jordan looked after one person and that was Jordan. Tell me the difference with Jordan taking money out of a club he owned and Noades doing exactly the same? Jordan's original investment, plus additional monies put into the club amounts to about £50M. As he eventually ended up with fcuk all, I would say his net investment was about £50M. Noades originally invested about £100K and ended up with £23M from Goldberg. Ignoring all the money he syphoned off whilst running the club, plus rent from Selhurst I would say he "royally screwed us". 2/10 poor effort. Just making things up to suit your argument does not make them facts. I can see that the principle doesn't matter to you, it's the size of the sum.
Even by his lower calculations Jordan lost a hell of an amount of his fortune following his dream. The amounts I quoted for Noades are pretty accurate. I can see that making a very minor point of order is more important to you than accepting the fact that Noades screwed us over and Jordan lost a fortune. No need for such aggression. How romantic, following his dream. Maybe you need to look at his other business ventures to see where the money went, he didn't loose his place in Spain an he didn't loose his cars, so I have zero sympathy for him.
I see from your other unhinged replies to other posters that you have a problem with Jordan. Calling him orange face and refusing to buy a pint at half time during his tenure doesn't give me confidence that you will listen to reason. And by the way it is LOSE not loose. If I had written that it would be a yellow. Again you're not replying to anything I say but I really don't expect much else from you. Respect has to be earned, in true Hol style you pull up a typo, well done, you must be pleased with yourself.
You've also used that method of trying to undermine me by suggesting I am not replying to you. Try addressing my points rather than sarcastically marking my efforts. I don't want or need your respect.

That would be because you never reply to the points raised you just go off on your own little tangent. I'm typing this with my arm covering the keyboard so as to stop you copying. Great, defriend me then. You may well answer this but I won't be answering anything you write.

His heart was in the right place, he got us out of the mire and he lost a lot of money doing so. He made mistakes too and upset people but so did Noades. His stand against agents probably cost us our place in the premiership. It was right for the game but wrong for us. He's a good writer but seems to talk in riddles when he appears on match-day panels. A bit like Holloway in that respect.

He lost millions and yes he did f**k up, but if Ron Noades hadn't stitched Goldberg Jordan wouldn't have needed to come in and save Palace. At least Jordan sold Palace to people who could run the club and cared about our future, but where Noades was only after money. This is what pisses me off with people who hate Jordan, who knows were we would be if Jordan didn't buy Palace from Goldberg, he took us to the PL and I bet all of you haters f**king loved him then. Yes he was a bit of a dick and screwed up, but it's not like he meant to do it and if certain things went his way it would have been ok. At the end of the day you have to give him some respect for what he did and at least he stood up what he believed in. When CPFC2010 bought Palace it was from administration, SJ didn’t have any say in who it could be sold to, which in reality was going to be the highest bidder. Exactly the same as when SJ purchased the club, for too high a price IMO, from the administrators after the Goldberg debacle. who knows were we would be if Jordan didn't buy Palace from Goldberg. Exactly, none of us know. If SJ didn't pay over the top for the club then perhaps a better businessman would have come in and taken over. Perhaps no one would have?
I don’t think I claimed to know everything, even Jamiemartin721 wouldn’t claim to know everything! Who knows who Jerry Lim really was? At the time I wondered if he was a figment of Simon Patterson (the administrator in 1999) imagination, someone used to try and get other buyers interested and hopefully get the price up but in his book SJ claims to have met and done a deal with him so he must have existed. Perhaps if he had taken over we would be playing in all red, called the Selhurst Eagles and playing in the Champions League? If no one else came forward to purchase the club, I suspect that Ron Noades would have but at a lot less that the £10 million that SJ paid. As I said, who knows?
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

You start the teacher stuff by "marking my work" then you don't like it when I'm the teacher and correct you. Now you're behaving like a schoolgirl..... defriend you? Honestly? If you feel the need to hit that button go ahead. I'd forgotten you were even on my list. I hope that your promise not to respond to me is binding.

Jerry Lim was a 'business' man who professed an interest in buying from Jordan. But Jordan had his suspicions about who and what he was and called his bluff by meeting Lim and sort of offering a deal. As Jordan predicted, when it came to stomping up Lim was all smoke and mirrors. Jordan was never sure why Lim even started and what he was really up to. There nothing to suggest Simon Jordan was anything other than a sincere Palace man who was larger than life. He really did have an impressive CV and made loads. He had always supported Palace and lived close by. His Dad had played for the club and his grandfather was also involved one way or another. His father had quite a run-in with Noads when Jordan was young, opposing Noads plans in turning the space behind the ground into the Sainsbury car park. If Plane really wanted a man to 'hate', Bloye's your man. My father confronted this 'charlaton' by exposing his back ground when he'd made a bid to purchase the club from the great AJ Waite. I believe that's when Palace's fortunes turned bad. Compared to him Noads is a pantomime villain, Goldberg a lost boy and Jordan the prodigal son.

The story that i remember doing the rounds at the time that was tha SJ couldn't purchase the club until he had sold his phone business. The Football League were getting itchy feet that we didn't have a buyer in place. Allegedly 'Jerry Lim' was put forward as a possible buyer by SJ to stall the situation until he was in a position to purchase the club. It is a feasible story but of course could be a load of cobblers.
