What happened to the lad, thought he was solid at full back when called upon, now doesn't make the bench?

Probably will be the next out the door.

I honestly wonder where a lot of players are, not only Mariappa? I have every confidence in TP saving us from relegation, but WHY always stick with the same players? No SOK, no Guedioura, no Bannan in the team and hardly on the bench. BTW, can the Sunderland game be the debut for keeper Wayne H? Not that Julian has disappointed so far (my POTY at the moment), only that a new commander in goal can give us extra energy that seems lacking at the moment.

Change the one good constant with a young, untried goalie? Why? Stop panicking. Imagine the unsettling of the defence with a new goalie. As if there's nothing else for them to worry about. Don't want to sound belittling, but what unnecessary fiddling. If anyone wants to suggest alterations to the team, go for areas that need it. Dropping Jules indeed! Not a serious suggestion surely.

The fact he hasn't played for us yet, is why I'd leave him out of the starting line up. Big risk to change your repliable keeper in a six pointer. I think Hennessey is a great buy for us, and next season I think he'll be edging into the Number 1 shirt.

But lets wait until then. Contry to popular opinion, we're actually holding up well.

NOT UNLESS THE NEW COMMANDER IN GOAL CAN SCORE WITH GOAL KICKS.

Ward is the RB of choice and won't be back in the midfield for a while I doubt, but yeah I suppose you could say why isn't Mariappa even on the bench. It's weird for him not to even get that, but Pulis clearly thinks there are more useful players to have as subs - not an unfair view.

The point about certain players not getting a look in does seem contentious - Bannan, SOK, and Guedioura as mentioned above. The manager's not been given all that much reason to drop lots of players though imv.

Alright you can argue someone like Puncheon is too inconsistent and say bring Bannan in instead - that's one I'd think about anyway. But Pulis clearly trusts his main crop of players to get enough points and he sees that overall we've been doing well enough to justify players keeping their place.

In January we got 10 points from 18 - pretty decent.
In February there were three games and we won one, losing two - against Arsenal and Man United.

So far in March we got a respectable point at Swansea and then narrowly lost to Southampton who are a very decent side.

So although I share the desire to see some of these players who have been sidelined... I think Pulis is seeing that his main crop are doing well overall and he doesn't want to go messing with it. Would having Mariappa or SOK in the team have helped us beat the likes of Arsenal and Man U, probably not.

Actually one example of a player who really might make a difference/impact and that isn't getting a look in is Gayle. That's the change I would make - give the lad some game time.

Preposterous idea. Having one of his best seasons and allowing us to pick up points all over the shop...
