It wasn't much fun at all and its a game that many thought we should be getting something from, but we got very little indeed, and I think Pulis was out-thought on this one. Some things I found disappointing were:

Almost all of the players.
No-one apart from Murray emerged from that game with any credit for me. Bolasie and Ledley showed glimmers of creativity but KG, Puncheon and Ince when he came on had really bad days.

Pulis' tactics and subs
For the first time since he got here, these didn't work. We continued to look lifeless after the subs when before we became more galvanised. Yesterday we created very little overall.

The support in the second half
After about 20 minutes into it we were very flat and quiet int he stands apart from the HF. While granted, there wasn't much to sing about, that's when the boys need us the most. It would be good to know that in the scrap coming up we're right up for it in the stands - we always have been before.

But...

Southampton are a good side
Make no mistake about it, they have some good young players and will be in the prem for a long time I expect. Lallana was the MOM by miles I thought, pulled all the strings.

They have 2 wonderful full backs
This made it much harder for us to get in decent crosses - we wont play against Clyne and Shaw every week - the latter looked every inch the international.

We have been here before
As a club we have a lot of fighting against adversity, and indeed relegation, experience. That stands us in great stead for the relegation battle ahead.

I still think we will do it. But we have to be up for it in the stands and get behind the team (even if we have some 'divine right to be entertained' idiots in the palace end this season) and we cannot be divisive.

We have the best manager for this situation, and barring a decent prem goalscorer, we have the players. In them we must trust, but our only chance is to back them every step of the way.

Thankful to read a reasoned and thought out response to the game, I am heartily sick of the reactive individual scapegoating of our team and manager.
I completely agree with your observations about our response in the stands, it was a full house but we were relatively quiet throughout. We are more important than ever at this stage of the season but the mass exodus before the end was as disappointing as the result, we have loved being thought of as great support in the Prem but we showed ourselves to be no use to the team on Saturday.
