Shouldn't be starting, but probably deserves a bit more game time off the bench

yeah, last half hour when the opposition have got a bit tired and have the hang of our game, bring on the whippet to run them ragged, worth a try!

Who is the Gayle player that everyone thinks is really fast ?? The Gayle we have is quicker than say Murray but has not left any defender standing. Jerome is way faster than Gayle and has presence and experience at this level. As someone said, players always seem better when they are not playing - Gayle has had 2 good moments and has had plenty of game time - people have short memories. I wish he was a viable alternative but he really isn't - nowhere near as good as any of our other strikers. The best thing we could have done with him is loaned him out to a champ side to see if he could continue his improvement. He stepped up too fast for his ability and by doing that will have hampered him immensely. No idea why we paid all that money for someone barely even tried at champ level, the poor lad has done his best but doesn't have it - not his fault a prem team paid all that money for him WTF were we thinking !!
You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue |

Trouble is that gayle would seldom see much of the ball . He doesn't seem capable of imposing himself on game. IMO, he's rarely more than a modest threat so I would stick with Jerome at least until chamakh is fit.

Anyone else like to see dwight get a chance? Hes pacey and even if he doesnt start he could be used as sub a bit more, i was hoping he would get a chance today even for last half hour!
Which he had for the first few months and he didn't take it.

When a player don't play he always looks better. When he was starting every week he was terrible bar one good goal at Villa and a flukey one against Liverpool he has done f*** all and when he plays does not do anything.

At best a Championship quality player who has the odd flash of skill. Yes he scored a great goal at Villa but he does not put in a shift and his positional sense and movement are truly awful. His upper body strength sees him nudged off the ball far too easily. Added to the above the way we play he would offer the team absolutely nothing. Jerome, Murray and Chamakh all fight for every ball and track back when needed. Gayle stands around somewhere and is never seen or heard of for ninety nine percent of his time on the pitch. Gayle in the team from the start = guaranteed defeat IMO.

The sad thing is that he is SO lightweight, he makes Puncheon look like David Haye. We've got Jerome and Murray who are slowish and big lumps, one is just back from a nasty injury, the other suffering the onset of ball-blindness by the looks of it. We've then got the rest of the squad who look like they get blown away in a stiff breeze, let alone a hearty challenge. Worrying.
