A five part investigation by the Times into the future of english footall starting today. Last weekend only 8 english players under 22 started in the premier league matches including Zaha. 3 of them were born overseas Would Palace benefit and be more competative if there was a homegrown under21 quota in the starting line up of the premier league?

i have always argued that Old tired Prem players should not be allowed to play in the lower leagues. Its stealing opportunities from young talent - and so the numbers of local players going up to the Prem ( from the Championship ) is vastly diminished

I can't see the premier league imposing a restriction on the number of foreign players - not only would it ruin their global branding image but it is arguably discriminatory to have restrictions based on nationality.
