Personally, I'd like one of Eric Young, complete with a real headband. Or, and this is a serious request, Geoff Thomas. I know he wasn't at the club for decades or anything - but he was a key part of arguably our most succesful team so far and has gone on to great things for charity.

More bollox! F*cking hell you're clever. If you're going to immortalise a sportsman in bronze it has to be to celebrate achievement. Anything else is an embarrassment and it has nothing to do with modern football. Isnt playing over 650 games for Palace an achievement? As for inferring Jim Cannon is an embarrassment means you are a bit of a w####r aren't you? And a very irritating one at that....

What about a walk of fame with voted for names on bronze plates around the ground? Saves argument and gives everyone involvement and on top of that it prevents a bronze of Jim Cannon ending up looking disappointingly like Mark Lawrenson. I couldn't stand that! We kind of already have that...Theres bricks with players names on them (as well as people who've bought their name or message on them) down by the glaziers.

I can't imagine a statue of a player at Palace to be honest. It just wouldn't look right in the middle of SE25. Perhaps if we got a new ground. I'm not saying we haven't got history, but we've never had one of the 'true greats' either. I think the club and ground have become a lot more professional in recent years, but the Centenary wall was a disappointment for me, not even full bricks, just cemented slates over the top and cement over some of them. Even the Centenary painting, a nice idea and looked good, but all worn and corroded within a year. A real shame.

I would be very wary if I knew a statue was to be made of me (not that one is likely to be commissioned). Most of them are awful and have little resemblance to the original. When they revealed the statue of Southampton stalwart Ted Bates family and supporters first of all thought that they had arrived at the wrong ceremony, and then, when they realised it was supposed to be their beloved Ted, demanded its removal and instant meltdown!
