This really is a great post for those with good recall The Palace Team were talked about as 'THE TEAM OF THE EIGHTYs.' After topping the League we were going OK until December 15th Liverpool Away lost 3-0. Our form dipped.The following Year Venables went, we had FOUR managers and got RELEGATED.

As has been stated, we went top for the one and only time after beating Ipswich 4-1 in 1979. The closest we've come to repeating that was in 1990 when a win at home to Forest would've landed us top. We drew 2-2.
