I thought the ref was pretty good to be fair...

Lots of pie eyed palace fans on here. The first Shane Long incident was a definite pen! Gabbidon clattered into the back of him nowhere near the ball. Lucky to get away with that.

Rest of his decisions were pretty accurate though.

He'd have conned you then. Not at all a pen, he dived by running into Gabbidons legs - if anything it should have been a free kick to us.

Spot on Finchley i had a great view in the Holmesdale Long ran into Gabbidon and went over very easily another ref would've given Long a yellow.

I guess a benefit of watching it on tv is that you get 3 replays from different angles. Wasn't a pen.

At the match, I thought the ref was shocking.

At home, watching the highlights, he actually didn't have that bad a game.

Shows how different it can look a) when you're there, all fired up and into it and, b) when you've calmed down and get 5 different angles in slo-mo of the same incident.

Whatever, we got 3 points and one over on the flat-nose judas c*nt so all in all a good night

Agreed, thought he was shocking at the game but on reflection not so bad. Shane long is a shlong however

The referee was average at the end fo the day but it was a terrific piece of judgement not to give Long the penalty. Watched it several times now and Gabbidon never veers from his line. Long was to his left and then cut across him, slowed down letting the ball get away from him and then put his right leg across DG and went to ground. He should have got a booking for that - it was cheating.

The handball from our corner was most certainly a penalty and the ref missed that. He also missed the clipping of Wards heels when he was clear through and their player should have been booked.

The sending off was correct. Whether the player made contact or not with O'Keefe, whether he pulled out of kicking harder is irrelevant. He had lost the plot and was just getting angrier and angrier - he should have received a yellow card along with Jerome fifteen minutes or so earlier.

the missed handball was atrocious. That could have been the difference.

Other than that, the ref was competant, but needed to prevent chippy play earlier.

Don't see it as competent when you don't give a yellow for blatant diving, don't give a yellow for a deliberate hand ball (on the half-way line) and give a free kick the wrong way when the attacker baulks the defender. Amongst other things. Oh and don't get me started on the spat between Cameron Jerome and their goalkeeper. OK Jerome should have walked away but the keeper started it, carried it on and didn't get a yellow. I reckon the ref knew he had done wrong on that one, affecting his later red card decision.

Agreed. The Long penalty scenario was a brilliant judgement and will earn him points on the referee panel.

Delaney and O'Keefe deserved yellows and it was totally justified to send Mcgregor off. Yeah, he'd been harrassed a couple of times but his reactions were totally over the top.

I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt saying it was an excellent decision...but maybe he bottled it and got lucky seeing as it was in front of the HF

Lack of consistency - Delaney booked for a strong challenge on Long, then their bloke does the same on Chamakh and doesn't even get spoken to.
