With the team going from 'certainties for relegation' to one of eleven trying to avoid the drop, is it time to re-evaluate the value of bringing in new players

As evidenced by Sunderland and Palace's starts to the season, it takes a while for new players to bed in and the last thing we want to do is disrupt the team when they are such a good run, particularly defensively

Obviously, a goal poacher would be useful but a quality one on reasonable wages wanting to move to the team are pretty remote. The price Hull had to pay for Shane Long, a player who has scored just three times in the league and who is out-of-contract soon, shows where the market is

With Murray and Hunt possibly back for the run in and reasonable cover for every starter, it might be best to hold on to the cash and see how the dice fall with the current squad

Absolutely ridiculous prices, but don't you worry, I got a feeling we'll be getting our striker from the French League.

I've said all along it is pointless for our club to look for 'Premier League experience' up front as the prices (and wages) are ridiculous even for mediocre players like Long and Jelavic. Look abroad!

Murray will not be a force this season purely as he has to recover match fitness and also acclimatise to the PL

Hunt - we have no idea whether he is any good or not.

We do not have enough depth at Centre Half and need to 'buy' goals

Jelavic probably went into the Hull side too early. I said this week that a new striker or player isn't necessarily going to make a difference vs Stoke. Look at Jelavic. Missed a good shot on goal at Norwich and they lost. Look at Guidetti for Stoke. Very good player. Did he produce anything? No. Stoke lost. Will they both produce anything? Will Shane Long? No doubt they all will, and there's 9 days prep time for Hull before coming to Selhurst.

My point is that needing them for Stoke wasn't necessary, but now we have a 2 point gap and a chance in the next 3 games for 2 good results, we should back TP with what is affordable and worth risking.

Spot on. No team below Soton will give us anybody of use, permanent deals from the teams above might well be too expensive for us, although loans are possible. Better to look abroad.

He very nearly did, I remember him shooting for the top corner but it slapped Crouch on the back of the leg and came to nothing

Bit of a let off really

We win and the threads start that we don't need new players, We lose and we do, so fickle on here.
We started the season lacking quality and nothing has changed. Our lack of goals is a problem, We have outplayed sides and lost because we lack goals. I would have been delighted with Long and Jelivic both good players that are better than the likes of Jerome, Puncheon, Gayle. Can we afford players like that? If SP doesn't back Pulis then he might walk, something must have been agreed in terms of budget when he signed a contract and this has to be honoured. TP has cleared funds by off loading quite a few players on loan and we have a huge chance of staying up if we can add goals to our performances. Like Rudi said we also lack cover in positions that would leave us vulnerable if players get injured.

Goalscorer priority 14 goals for not good enough, that's the main tweak in the team I'd be happy with that.

and now Fred Davis will try for the pink, for those watching in black n white its just behind the green..........
