Great, and lets hope poyet gets a massive payout at the court case and leaves them potless!!!

I thought they were potless actually. Didn't they spend well outside of their means last season?

For those of you who were gloomy last week that Brighton finally got a win and we could no longer laugh at their bad fortune, I was at the game up in Birmingham as my girlfriend is a Blues fan (she returns the favour by coming to CPFC games with me).

The two teams were deadlocked in the first half as Birmingham had set their formation up pretty well to nullify the type of football Brighton play. They pressed hard up the pitch and stopped Brighton from playing but failed, themselves, to test the Brighton keeper (Teddy Ruxpin or whatever he's called).

In the second half it was all Birmingham. A team with dwindling support, financial problems and arguably their two best players leaving at the end of the season for Premier League club as well as their top scorer getting dumped for his alleged illegal behaviour, absolutely embarassed the 'mighty' Albion. Brighton had a couple of chances in the half, but literally their first one came after a defensive error against the run of play and they put the ball through the wide gap the Brum centre backs had left. Prior to that Birmingham's pacey midfielders had created a hatful of chances and hit the cross bar twice, luckily for Teddy Ruxpin who looked like a big fat bag of spuds.

The Brighton fans celebrated like they'd won the FA Cup and then left the ground singing Oscar Garcia's name. They seemed utterly blind to how poor their team had been and how dominant Birmingham had been. I guess fans of any team can go away from a win thinking "a win's a win" but I wonder if it crossed their mind that the performance was worryingly bad.

Sadly, I think Brighton have an annoying knack of winning games where they were by far the lesser team and this might be the first of many. They'll possibly finish the season higher in the league than they belong...who knows...maybe even top the league. But on this day they were utterly shambolic and looked like a League One team against Birmingham despite the result. I'm judging on one game, but they certainly didn't look like the well organised unit (which I hate to call them) they were under Poyet and if they don't get the rub of the luck this season then they definitely belong in the bottom half.

Whereas Millwall and Charlton will just play like crap and lose all their games.

Incidentally, I found it odd being in a stadium where the fans pretty much stopped singing as soon as their team went behind and booed their team after a pretty decent performance.

I'm no Birmingham fan, if it wasn't for my girlfriend I'd probably laugh if they got relegated, but it does really provide a good contrast for the decent Palace fans who probably sing louder after going behind and applaud a good performance whatver the result. Goes to show that some fans just don't get it.

Because I hate Brighton so much I was almost compelled to stand up and try to get the Blues fans near me singing some songs....but they might not have understood my accent (or lack of)!
