I've been reading on various threads over time that Ambrose was loyal to us after admin. Just wanted to clarify - jus finished reading Warnock's latest biography and he states that - Ambrose had his medical at QPR and even bought a box for his family at Loftus Road, however the deal was cancelled as Flavio B, didn't want him. The book is a good read with parts about Warnock's time at Palace - but interesting to read about what went on behind the scenes at his time at QPR.

We were in administration and Brendan Guilfoyle accepted QPR's bid. That's how it works when you're in admin. The administrator runs the entire ship in order to safeguard the interests of creditors.

Interesting. I thought QPR had made a bid and that we stalled until the ownership was settled and that once Burley arrived, he managed to persuade him to sign a new deal with us a week or so before the season started. CPFC2010 were quoted at the time saying: "We have had no offer from QPR for Darren Ambrose other than the previous one of 750K which we consider derisory for a player of Darren's quality and temperament. We have offered Darren a new contract which we will no doubt discuss when he returns from the west country. As far as we are concerned Darren is an integral part of Georges and our plans for the coming season. I seem to remember Warnock fuming at the time as he'd said previously that Dazza was desperate to join QPR, but was more pointing the finger at Palace for reneging than his own board for the collapse.

The administrator accepted QPR's bid, terms were agreed, medical etc, but I think CPFC2010 let it me known that they wanted to keep Ambrose and Speroni if possible - this was all fairly late in the admin process. I made the point about the administrator running every element of the business, because basically everything is up for sale at the right price. And we know BG took several soundings in order to assess fair value.

Just wanted to clarify Is it possible to clarify anything in the media whether newspaper or autobiography as very little is absolute truth as everyone tries to put their own spin on things

Shock Horror! He don't think Warnock might be bending the truth show he wasn't turned over by CPFC2010 & Ambrose as all facts indicate?

Dont buy into all this loyalty nonsense, Players will go to where they will get paid the most and for the longest. This exactly... I can remember having a few beers with Jim Cannon about ten years ago. He was saying that loyalty gets you nowhere. He loves Palace and loved his time here but with hindsight he said he should of moved. Had the chance to go to West Ham he said who were a top side at the time. Turned it down because his family were settled but financially he said it would of been the right move for his family. Players, especially in this day and age play for money not clubs or managers.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Loyal or not, Ambrose scored 37 goals in three seasons for us, from midfield, at a time when hardly anyone in a Palace shirt could find the back of the net. Those 20 goals in the Admin season were absolutely vital. Players aren't loyal to clubs, but then clubs also rarely reward loyalty either.
