Malcolm Allison ! He turned us from a drab back street South London club to a club we could all be proud of ! New modern kit New modern Nickname and built us a fantastic team through the youth team. Just a shame they did not give him one more season so he would start to see the fruits of all his hard work. just a shame that Judas Venebales came a long and took all the glory. He got us Peter Taylor one of the best players I had ever seen , playing him on the other wing was a master stroke ! I will never forget that 76 cup run !! went to every game , the hat , going up to the opposing fans end giving his score prediction completely taking the pressure off of his young side and putting all the pressure on himself ! So many players were local lads Nick Chattertons Dad Len was even the groundsman !! This great man gave me some of the happiest days of my youth ! He loved our club the way we the fans loved it ! Years later when we played Liverpool in that famous semi-final I recorded it and played it back hundreds of times. But what I will always remember was Malcolm Allision was interviewed at half time. We were 1-0 down and being outplayed. While Venables and Wilkins were back in the studio pissing themselves at the thought of a Palace victory Malcolm Allison said I think Palace are stronger , if they can push up from midfield to get to the big lad up front I think they can win it :=)) God bless you Big Mal , we will never forget you RIP.

Have to say the years from 1972 to 1980 were special and the managers involved (Allison, Head and Venables) all deserve credit.

Indeed, Allison did lay the foundations but it was Venables that took us up from Div 3 to Div 1 and got us to the top of what is now the Premier League. I know that will never happen again, ever.

Supporting Crystal Palace since 19.45 on 29th August 1972 (approximately)!
