i remember the game against millscum in sept 78.we were away and absolutely stuffed them 3-0!
we were on the big match the following day.as we were walking along new cross road after the match, the coppers had a mad scum fan trapped in an alley-way.he was about 40,pissed out of his head ans swinging a sabre above his head.
ah,the good old days!

Have you ever seen a Millwall fan who is not pissed?
That is the only thing to do in Coldblow Lane!

I liked the Old Den - proper ground full of menace and overflowing troughs of piss..

I went there a few times in the 60s and 70s. The most memorable game was in 1968 during our promotion winning season. We won 2-0.

I never had any bother there, but, I did keep my head down just in case.

The old Den was really scary but a great atmosphere. There are some really good pictures of it on the Millwallhistory website

Got a few pics of Palace playing at Cold Blow Lane over the years - so there's 3 of them attached.

First one is a cup tie replay in Jan 1922, expect that terrace was fairly intimidating!

2nd one is from 54-5, Cam Burgess is the Palace player and the legendary Lion Charlie Hurley is up in the air.
Don't look up the result of this one!

3rd one shows Peter Burridge heading our winning goal in Feb 64. Cliff Holton is our No 9, you can see Burridge horizontal between his legs. Alex Stepney is their keeper and Harry Cripps is the bloke collapsing on the goal line.

Burridge told me that after scoring this goal, he was covered in gob from the home fans, this was a couple of years after he scored 40 goals for them and got them promoted.
