Back in the day(late 70's early 80's).I used to watch the Palace from the New Stand with Fatty Mick,Fatty Mick's mate Gary,Kung Fu Kev,Farmer George,Dopey Dave, Bondage Bill(from Crockenhill!!)and Greg Brown RIP,and other lads-but for the mist of time I'm sorry,I can no longer recall all of their names.
We called this band of brothers of ours-surprise,surprise The New Stand Army.
We travelled to away games on the organised 'Specials',Inter City (Persil railcard helping towards the cost!!)and the odd mini bus trip.

One eventful mini bus trip was to Coventry city 80/81 (the goal that never was!!)
We parked the bus several streets away from the ground.We made our way to the ground.
On route we were ambused by a large group of Coventry fans in a local park.We gave a good account of ourselves (we were drinkers not fighters!!)but were heavily outnumbered and looked like we were heading for a good kicking,then an almighty roar went up,I looked up and instanly reconsied some of the faces tearing down the hill to our aid.
Now with the numbers even, most of the Cov mob had it on their toes!! - chickens!! those that choice to stay got a good hiding!!

I don't mind palace to be fair. Much better club than tinpot Charlton and Brighton
