Yes, they were Nazi-saluting in the Main Stand while he was warming up. Charming. Talking of which, Palace v Leeds c 1987, Ian Wright broke through the middle of their defence, one of their defenders tackled him very hard but fairly, sent Wright flying, and as the defender (Swan?) got up he Nazi-saluted to the Leeds fans in the Arthur. And these clubs wonder why people don't like them?

I think it was in January or February of 1948 and Palace were playing Port Vale in the FA Cup. For the first time ever my Mum and I arrived 15 minutes late and Palace were a goal down. I don't remember how we equalised but we did before half time and during the break I was able to get a butchers at the programme and I noticed that the name Farrington had been penciled in at half back in place of Tommy Reece. The chap standing next to us said that Roy Farrington was a trainee and was only 18,it was his first senior game. Well about 15 or 20 minutes from the end Palace were awarded a free kick about 25 yards out on the left as they kicked towards what is now the Holmesdale end. Up steps Roy Farrington and has a go. It was not a good free kick because it was not high enough into the box and before it reached anywhere near goal it bounced a couple of times and eventually bounced over the goalie's shoulder and into the net and Palace won 2 - 1. I think it was the only goal Farrington ever scored for us and I never saw him play again for the first team but I remember going home all chuffed and was sure Roy Farrington would be in the Palace team for years to come.

The Division 1 match away at Burnden Park in Bolton in the ‘90s when Palace literally put about 30 consecutive passes together. The move culminated in The Doog unfortunately swinging and missing the ball almost entirely on the edge of the area, which was the cue for much howling of derision from the home fans. Then the ball fell perfectly for David Hopkin, just a few feet away, and while Jussi Jaaskelainen got a hand to his shot he couldn’t stop it flying in the top corner. The mocking Bolton fans immediately fell silent as a big cheer went up from all of us in the away end, much of which was taken up by the Normid Superstore sacrilegously built into one corner of the ground. I believe it was a top-of-the table clash at the time, with Bolton top and Palace in second place, and the match finishing 2-2. I think we both went up that year (’96/’97 season).
