*lump in throat time*

but, hopefully, Funty will get bored soon so I can get back to work.

Anyways - The Valley. Look at that incredibly massive side terrace. It could, and I kid you not, hold 42,000 all by itself.

Plough Lane was truly a sh*thole and its hard to believe it hosted top division football. I too will also will also remember it for being there when Wrighty scored his hat-trick including that lob.

The Den was an intimidating ground, thats for sure. Stamford Bridge on that away terrace I always remember for being in the winter and freezing cold and miles from the pitch. Went in the shed a few times in the late 80s with chelsea mates and it was a ripe old atmosphere.

And.. it looks like the away end at Burnley is still the same!

I always seemed to stand under the electricity pylons at one end and my hair got all frizzy.

Kermy is right too about that terrace at the valley.. it was fcuking huuuge. They never filled it though whenever I went there!

When football was about the supporters... no sky...no over paid players... you went to see your mates... would take a packed cold terrace over what we have now anyday!

EAGLES

Okay change had to come, but places like The Valley, Fratton Park and The Den seem so evocative now. These are grounds that, as a youngster, I visited in the 1960s, usually to see Palace play away. I remember standing on that huge terrace at The Valley. These were times when nearly every ground had its own characteristics and could often be often identified from just a narrow shot. So many modern stadiums have a samey feel about them.

It was the same with football programmes .. they all look alike now whereas once upon a time each club had a match day programme with a design and style that was unique to that club.

Enough of my nostalgic rambling...
