The referee incident might well have been September 14th 1985.
Wrighty had come on as Sub.

Result 0-0 attendance 6,381.!!!!!!!

I beg to differ al. I was at the game in early 78/79, the year we won div2 but wasn`t at the 85/86 game, and remember it happening.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

YOUR CORRECT
28th October 1978 was the 'early' call for time. Eddie Hughes was the ref and Brian Greenaway (Fulham) scored the only goal on 68 minutes.
According to the 'Adder' players had already discarded socks and boots and allegedly Nick Chatterton was nearly out the door.
Apparently there were still 2 and a half minutes left to play and the ref
played 5 and a half minutes after the restart. The cutting I have does not say how this extra period restarted.
1st October 1977 was when George Best clashed with Ian Evans.

I was at the game where the ref blew early.

I was walking down the Holmesdale road when I heard the crowd cheer and tried to run back into the ground but by the time I got back it was over (again).

Without a shadow of doubt JC, I think he may have even won the player of the year in his last season. Great memory was when he handballed the ball into the goal in the last minute at the Den for a late palace win.

Jim Cannon legend and no doubt a great captain however I think a certain Bobby Kellard was captain for a while in 70's (if not should have been) and would be my pick, a great inspiring leader and master of the middle of the pitch ( could run a game from the centre circle) never seemed to pass to the opposition unlike many of todays players!
