Both fiercely competitive central midfield players in our most successful side. Who was the better player though?

Personally I'd go for Gray. Good tackler, quick, big throw, good striker of the ball, decent passer.

We've gotta protect our phoney baloney jobs.

Gotta be Geoff for me.

Gray was often yellow carded and was therefore suspended more.

Geoff was just as hard but used his brain a bit more.

Two great central midfielders though, who won us possession and set us up in attack. No surprise that we ended up third in the top flight with them at the heart of our team.

Geoff Thomas for me is my favourite all time Palace player !

He was a leader of men during the clubs most successful period and since he has quit he has become even more of a legend in my eyes due to his fight and courage !

On pure footballing talent and skill: Gray by a country mile. For consistency, 100% committment 100% of the time, leadership and positive influence on team: Thomas....by a country mile.

Put the two of them together, and there you have the engine of a side that will make you the 3rd best team in the land....

We really were the 3rd best team in the land

I have to go with Geoff Thomas,I reckon he had a big engine and really put himself about,if it wasn't for that international nightmare,he could had achieve more.
I reckon he was the main man in that squad at the time but had great support in that department with the Ninja and Andy Gray. It's even more remarkable as he carried an injury that meant he started almost every season slightly off his best.
I recall the ZDS Final, just after kick off, when he slung himself into the Everton penalty area head first to reach a corner kick cross and made contact with Martin Keown's boot, picked himself up and just ran back without flinching, plenty of claret as well.

Really difficult to decide between them for me. What a double act!!! I remember walking home from many a game back then and myself and my pal would always agree that ' Andy Gray deserves a medal '

This was still the case when he was apparently being disruptive off the field - his performances on the pitch were just awesome - GT too ! I remember a Leeds game at home when Dennis Wise got involved with Mr. Gray - big mistake lol!!!

GT and AG must of been among the toughest midfield duo in the country - and could def back that up with tons of ability .

The great thing about that side was the spine we had right through the team - Martyn , the Thorn and Young partnership , GT & AG , the Wrighty and Bright partnership upfront , and then great flair around it.

I hope we can rebuild using a similar strategy , especially if we can grab Vaughan and keep Speroni.

GT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he was like a clockwork toy, wind him up and send him out and he didn't stop grafting all over the park,,,,,,,,,,,,,better all round game than gray,,,,,,,,but together they were best midfield pairing we've had in my 40 years.

Sends a shiver up my spine just thinking about that side.It certainly was a great team and I don't think we actually realised at that time just how good a side they were.
