We're all wrong - Paul Merson says we're going to be in a relegation fight!!!!
Frightening that they get paid for their opinions. (Don't start me on Lineker!)

Of course this echoes my sentiments nearly every pre-season, however of late I have been a tad more optimistic about our prospects !

I suppose Paul Merson is considering the fact that Olise has departed, some other 'Leading lights' could also be heading for the exit door and the replacements might need time to adjust to the demands of the Premier League.

The turnover of players from the squad which had a successful end to the season might have influenced his mindset.

Injuries make a big difference if we can have not many, and Glasner is happy with what is going on, no reason we couldn't finish 8th and have a good cup run, if our best players stay fit it could be an exciting season, one more decent attacking player who can play CF and CAM and we could surprise a few, fingers crossed.

Injuries will play a big part. Will the team gel, have we got enough creatives in to cover Olise? Probably twelfth finish.

Hopes:
Start the season where we left off in May. Continue the swagger we had throughout the new season and attain 60+ points, beating Chelsea and Liverpool in the process.
Retain our best players and find great value talent to strengthen the squad further.
OG stays and we win the Cup!

Expectations:
We will lose a star or two.
There will be injuries.
Avoid a relegation struggle easily.
The wiil be offers for OG.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I read an interesting interview that Glasner gave to German media saying that Olise was impossible to replace directly so the club had elected to go 2 for 1 with Kamada to provide the technical stuff and Sarr the more direct and pacy contribution.
He indicated that this would allow for flexibility of tactical approach deiending upon opponent or how a game is going.

Can Sarr and Kamada between them replace Olise's incredible stats on goals and assists?
This could have a strong bearing on how the season goes assuming we can keep the rest of the squad together.

For me the key players are Wharton, Munoz and JPM.
Wharton makes the side tick with his one and two touch play,Munoz sets the tone for the team with his pressing and forward play and JPM looks our only real goalscorer.

If they have stong seasons a top 8 position is attainable

I'm optimistic it will be a season of entertaining football. Where we finish may well depend on injuries and how all the new managers get on with Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham and Brighton all kicking off under new stewardship. I think there is an outside possibility of us springing a surprise and finishing in the top 8, but more realistically 9-12th place and a good run in one or both the cups seems very achievable.

It certainly wasn't intended to be derogatory towards Eze.
It's just from a team perspective the three players I mentioned form key components of the methodology employed by Glasner.
If they're out for any reason I'm not sure we would be able to operate as effectively as a unit.

I agree as well, we’ve looked a different team since the arrival of Munoz and Wharton and Mateta’s goals have obviously been massive. Eze’s dad Lanzo will disagree, but Eze is very Wilfesque in that he can be brilliant, but can sometimes go quiet for long periods and had less impact in our upturn in form last season than others imo

My son is the god of football, more ability than a Swiss watchmaker, more tricks than David Copperfield, as elegant as Anna Pavlova, and as beautiful to watch as a collection of impressionist paintings
