They appear determined to ensure that Britain becomes a third world Country and they have started the process well.

If AI funding is being shelved then all those improvements that ‘Wisbech’ needs will be shelved too. Unfortunately we will be stuck with ‘him’ in his current version…

They could cut back on spending on immigrants in hotels by maybe getting a barge or the like…

Force you to go electric and the f*** you for it - what a surprise. I heard car tax will become by weight - guess which vehicles are heaviest.

The government will love it being able to track the public. Judging by the number of unpaid fines that TFL accumulate each year so will the criminals. Oh well there is always the honest and hardworking to be gouged.

When the pensioners demonstrate for having their measly fuel allowance removed, will they be labelled far right or thugs? Starmer better get on the case of monitoring oversize button phones. Edited by ASCPFC (04 Aug 2024 4.12pm)

And now the Mother of the House has condemned Reeves for introducing a new age of austerity. Incidentally the term 'black hole' is deliberately chosen to antagonise. Governments of all shades have in the past spent more than they've received, with debt issuance increasing accordingly. Government borrowing is not necessarily an evil, just as borrowing to buy a house or with the aim of growing a business is not something to be frowned upon. I can't recall ever disagreeing with anything you've said (and several times you've made me laugh). But i think that's a false comparison. Borrowing in the private sector is (usually) imited to what lenders think you can service - i.e., at the very least pay the interest, and ideally pay down the capital. In the international markets governments which not only don't pay down but demand ever more cash find that the markets will make their own demands - in the shape of higher interest rates. Thus underlying debt rises, and higher average interest rates exacerbate the problem. (Or at least I think that's the case.

I don't advocate government borrowing per se, and certainly not rampant borrowing. I was merely trying to say that sometimes "needs must" - COVID being the obvious example - hence the term "black hole" is unhelpful and possibly misleading. Thanks for opening with a compliment. I'm chuffed by it actually. I'm never quite sure how my attempts at humour go down, except at home where they go down like a lead balloon!
