What is great about this type of debate is that we currently have strength in depth. Players get injured so the idea of a first 11 is sort of out of date. It’s now the first 15 or so. Loving our squad. Fingers crossed we hold onto Adam and Ebs. I fear Marc is off, but we have replacements

Happy happy JOY, JOY!

It is crazy how far we have come that we have not missed MG during pre season or the chunk of season last year. That we can not worry that he is likely leaving. My how things have changed.

So wonderful to know we have A grammatist on board.

Why do people like you who are in the wrong always mock those who are in the right? I'm always pleased to be corrected because it broadens my knowledge.

Absolutely agree. On the whole anyway. But on message boards such at these where I quickly type something with one thumb on my weekend commute into work. I unfortunately don’t ever have the time or concentration levels to type grammatically correctly. I won’t stoop as far as typing in ‘txt’ format. But I’ll no doubt, continuously, make some glaring errors

Plus I don’t own a PC or laptop so all of my posts are on a small ish IPhone 12 screen.

I'm not sure about the First X1 - as others have pointed out it's a squad game involving around 15 players on matchday.
One thing I do feel fairly sure of though is that Hughes will start the season as first choice.
He's been excellent under Glasner and has continued his form in pre-season.
He epitomises the way that Glasner wants to play, and while Wharton deserves all his plaudits, I wouldn't underestimate the role played by Hughes.
In time,as they regain match fitness, Doucoure and Lerma will I am sure challenge Hughes for a place and that is a good thing.
Competition for places should sharpen performances.

Yes, it's nice to see and the squad also gives OG the opportunity to change players for different matches if he thinks they're better suited or should be rested and to make proper replacements during games instead of like for like or inferior players coming on.

Yes, but there's a difference between that kind of typo error and what I responded to, which was someone trying to be 'clever' (using the patronising "methinks" rather than simply stating his alternative opinion). Sadly his knowledge of English failed him - you can't "think" something is "surely correct"; either it's surely correct or you think it's correct. His wonderful comprehensive education let him down again. I would have let it go, but given how irritating and argumentative he's been on other threads in the past, I regarded him as fair game.

My Chelsea supporting father in law proudly announced yesterday that guehi was leaving for Newcastle for 60 million expecting a reaction from myself, but I said I’m not really that bothered to be honest, as you said, we’ve looked decent without him and at least this window we’re signing replacements for those it seems we’re letting go

As in my OP, he wouldn't make make my starting 11

Not at all - you're a great poster on here but I guarantee Wharton is the 1st player in our midfield duo. He is our playmaker - something I've not seen Doucoure do to great effect. He is an excellent DM though. Once he's up to speed - he'll be right next to Wharton but in the meantime - Hughes or Lerma, IMO.
