You think it’s hyperbole? I don’t. Saying I don’t like Trump is akin to saying I don’t like eating mouthfuls of arsenic.

It’s very little to do with whether I like him, or not. It’s what he represents that concerns me and the dangers I believe we would all face if he succeeded in securing another 4 years.

I realise others don’t see that and think I am OTT but I am far from alone with my fears. If you haven’t already spend some time viewing the videos I posted links to in response to Hrolf in the other thread. Of course they come from strong anti-Trumpers like me but they demonstrate beyond any kind of doubt just how dangerous this man really is.

Maybe he is but he's not a homicidal maniac or despotic dictator.
I'm just not that invested in a situation which can't be affected.
When it comes to his actual policies Vance may give more cause for concern but only time will tell.

That the FBI haven’t yet found who placed the pipe bombs is true.

[Link]

That, of course, doesn’t stop people developing conspiracy theories to suit their preferred narrative of it all being a “deep state” plan to discredit Trump.

What is beyond dispute, and much more important, is that a bunch of wound up rioters forcibly entered the Capitol building with the intention of stopping the certification of the election result.

Those people having been encouraged to do so, whether by design or by accident, by Trump. Who had previously led them to believe, without any foundation, that the election result was fraudulent.

That he is even allowed to be a candidate for President is a disgrace. Those who do not respect democracy should not be a part of it.

We are all invested in it, whether we want to be or not!

Is he a homicidal maniac? Probably not. Maniac, who knows but he sure gives that impression. Could he become a despotic dictator? Hopefully Congress would stop it, but I don’t have complete confidence. One of the dangers is he might try to extend his powers and/or his term of office.

Do watch those videos.

I mean emotionally invested.
Even if he wins the chances have to be pretty good that he doesn't see out the full term. Either his health will give out, he's impeached again (is there a three strike rule on impeachments?), his legal problems catch up with him or another shooter has a go.

With a 2/3rds requirement in the Senate impeachment would be a waste of time. He will not be prosecuted whilst in office and probably pardon himself anyway. Health, who knows? I cannot imagine his security will again allow another failure to happen.

Longer term it doesn't really matter who wins the US election (Trump beats Harris).

However, whoever wins the reality of economics means that America's future is looking difficult. Even if Trump or Harris does well economically it's only a matter of delay as the economic die is cast.

People should watch this video to understand what your mainstream media won't tell you but which those who actually care will.

Whilst I am no economist I have always had an instinctive aversion to debt so the level in the US looks eyewateringly worrying. Something that if it forced a default would impact us all and plunge the world into recession.

So the kind of video just referenced gives me the jitters. However it seems it isn’t that simple. Much of US debt is actually owed to itself! One hand borrowing from the other. On top of that Treasury bonds are the currencies which fuel the economies of the world, being traded to raise and lower liquidity as needed. Pay them all off and there would be a big problem.

The problem seems to be more about interest rates than debt itself. Restraining its rate of increase seems to be wise but reducing it, or eliminating it, probably not.

I found this interesting:-

Well we certainly hope Wisbech is right.

However, history doesn't really chime with what this guy is saying in the article. Owning debt to ourselves, sure...a portion of it but it still requires payment, miss the payment or cancel it and that's pensions and bonds so it's hardly less relevant.

Also, no one is even talking about corporate debt....the article sounds like someone responding to concerns raised in 2007.

Is Harris likely to win? Beyond the fact that she's not Trump she hasn't got much to offer.

All true but when the Democrat machine gets turning truth goes out the window and people get trampled on, even Joe will be left with footprints all over his back.

I don’t think that’s in any way true.

As well as not being Trump she isn’t Biden either! She is female, younger and coloured. She is stronger on Israel. Passionate about reproductive rights. An advocate with a quick mind and the ability to both know the answer before asking the question and the skill to know the right question.

Optics matter. She won’t move many of the MAGA bunch but even fewer of the anti-Trump bunch will now move to him. It’s the relatively small bunch in the middle who matter and if enough of them do it should make the difference . Many of them are reluctant Trump voters, who seeing Biden as unfit to serve at 85 were making a choice they weren’t comfortable with. Now they have another choice.
