Ok, but personally I don't remember the last surprise major signing. My opinion is that Glazier wants more than one replacement for Olise as going for a spot in Europe requires a higher quality squad and once you moved past our starting eleven it doesn't scare any of the higher teams.

I think the big unknown is how Franca will develop this year. He showed enough in a rigid Roy team to provide hope! I would stick with Sarr or equivalent then work a preseason and even a couple of league fixtures before putting in our usual transfer deadline offer if gaps still exist!

I really do think Smith-Rowe would be a brilliant signing- but 35 million quid is actually a crazy amount to spend on a player with such injury risk. Really Big money signings don’t often work out that well for Palace - and just think there is a danger of getting drawn into something that we ought to swerve. There are others really good players out there that wouldn’t cost so much.

I agree. 15 - 20 Million maybe worth a chance. 35+ they're having a laugh! He may stay fit and be work 50 - 60 at the end of the season, but it's a huge gamble. I wonder if Eze has agreed to stay for another season too - that'll also influence who we go for and how much we're willing to spend.
