So far Yvette Cooper’s main contribution as Home Secretary seems to be her going around telling everybody how shocked she is at the Harehills riots and stabbings. I'm shocked anyone ever gave that bint an important job.

What do you expect from a detached from reality politician?

Not an ounce of common sense between them.

I don't think anyone wants child poverty but remember, it is relative poverty.

I don't think the current situation of two parents working and still not being able to afford a decent standard of living is acceptable.

It is not sensible for businesses to survive only by paying people rubbish wages and creating awful working conditions. Let them go out of business.
It is not right that it often doesnt pay to work.
People need a better mechanism and encouragement that alows them to move from unemployment and dependency on benefits to a decent job.
Pay and conditions play a big part. Who wants to get paid noting and get treated badly for their trouble?

Aside from that, people need to manage their money better. How many smoke? Drink too much? Gamble? Eat takeaway three times a week? Their kids need to come first.

I strongly agree with the middle section of your post.

I think the comment re relative poverty is fairly unhelpful - relative or not, the societal consequences of kids growing up poor are well known, and clearly something not to be pursued.

I think the last paragraph is too reliant on stereotype - the reality is, we have little to no idea.

Well, it IS relative poverty. It cannot be compared to the poorest in global terms, or indeed historically.

Given that, it is still not acceptable that one of the world's richest countries still has people who don't have a good standard of living.
Despite the unfortunate limitations of our capitalistic society, people still need to help themselves by making better choices.

Didn't you say that 10 billions had been earmarked for Rwanda Sir Keir?

Well as it is terminated you can 'earmark' 1.3 billions of it for poor children, can't you?

Fell at the first fence.

Reeves and Starmer need to reconsider what socialism is and what the labour party is supposed to represent, not austerity and banking.

The rebels are actually probably quite glad to get away from Stalin, the trend is to independents and they could well be re-elected.

I know what you mean, that’s why I never had a problem with Corbyn, as he was trying to take Labour back to their original principles. The middle ground was already overcrowded so socialism in its natural state was the correct way to go for him.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Good to see Starmer acting quickly on removing the whip from seven MPs, pure coincidence they are all SWG Corbynistas.

Anyway, well done Starmer

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Especially when the opposition side of The House is near-empty and Starmer still acting with integrity.

I disengage, I turn the page.
