Always though we might lose two this window so if Guehi goes I would be amazed if Parish let Eze go too.

.

I thought Eze had a release clause so Palace don't have a say. But it is all a bit murky. I wish there was a decent journalist around who could bring some clarity to the situation once and for all

It was said a while back by a journo close to Palace that he has got a release clause but not a simple 'here's the money now give us the player' like Olise's.

That's why it's often quoted as £68m now and not the £60m before cos that extra £8m has been discovered to have to be payed between QPR and Eze himself. There may also be other stuff in in it as well that we don't know about.

In other news, Pep has said that De Bruyne is going nowhere this year. Maybe we've told them 'neither is Eze'!

It seems like interest in signing Guehi is waning a little. I can’t see any team in the PL being prepared to pay £70 million for Guehi with perhaps the exception of Man Utd. Let’s face it if they were happy to stump up £50 million for AWB and £80 million of Maguire, anything is possible! He was England’s best player at the Euros ( not a very high bar to be honest) so his stock is high. If a big offer comes in we should grab it.

As regards Eze, £68 million is a fair price however “complicated” the release clause is. If it’s similar to Olise, then Parish may be able to demand it all up front and I can’t see any PL team putting all their FFP eggs in that basket . Liverpool may make some kind of bid to test our resolve.

I suspect OG will have a chat with Eze when he returns from hols and convince him that he wants to build a team around him and Wharton . Eze will decide to stay and may even sign a new contract. Even money on whether Guehi stays or goes to Manure.

Seriously, i think Eze is too much of a maverick for Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal which is what i like about him, a bit like Grealish, he needs to play his way, similar to Wilf, that is why i think he will stay, PSG is the perfect move for any player like him.

I’m struggling to imagine him in the same category as Frank Worthington, Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles

I think you have to be realistic. Release clause or no release clause if City come calling (assuming they pay market value) you cant stand in the lads way. I want him to stay of course I do but City would be an amazing move for him. He already knows all the English City lads and although he is no Debruyn yet he definitely has the potential to fill that role.
As for Palace? Losing him as well as already having lost Olise will be tough but the money puts us in a position to shop at Waitrose rather than Lidl on this occasion when it comes to finding a replacement. I have no doubt someone as meticulous as Glasner will already have a couple of ideas in his mind when it comes to the possible departure of Eze.

He's under contract. No release clause, no leave.

If we sell him, then we might as well put a big sign up saying don't sign for us because we have no ambition whatsoever.

surely it would be better for the sign to say something like 'sign for us and in a couple of years you could be playing for your country and in the Champions League'?

Would have thought that would be more likely to attract top talent, and help us inch up the echelons of the Prem.

Depends on who you are signing. If you are looking at Championship players then great.
More to the point, how will the club progress if all we ever sign are prospects?

We have a chance to move up a level this season. Sell Eze and Guehi and you can almost certainly kiss that goodbye.

I bet Villa thought that when they sold their talisman Grealish yet they invested the money wisely on a team and are now in Europe with a brilliant coach

Are you comparing us to Villa?

We might have thrashed them last season but they are a much bigger club.
Also, they might have known that Grealish is a liability.

Did you wonder why he didn't get selected for England?
