I had to google where Ranchi was in India, its not a place name that you hear of very often, I bet other than the cricket ground its quite an interesting location.

England out for 353, Root out of partners.

Bashir has 3, India 131-4 at tea.

Ranchi a new one on me, too.

Lot of waterfalls, hopefully not on the pitch....

The way the wicket is playing makes Joe Root's innings even more impressive. Bashir and Hartley are bowling well on it though.

Quite a start to this test. From 0/1 to 55/1 in five overs? BazBall in action. Crawley must be sick about missing out here.

Don't fancy West Indies to get 400 plus but you never know.

Some dodgy fielding and bowling helped England but 400+ runs in a day again is pretty good going. Stokes and Smith could have added another 50 quickly but it's a high risk strategy and they both picked out a fielder.

Looking forward to an afternoon in front of the box, WIndies to score less than 200? Good batting wicket though.

I'll go for around 250, pretty slowly.

Mark Wood has been very quick - 97 mph for one ball.
Great comment from Mark Butcher about Lewis dropping his hands and making it look like 85 instead of 95 mph.
That would be quite fast enough for the rest of us.

Not great bowling at the end. It might be fun watching a no. 11 clouting 6s but not when it's against England.

Questionable tactics by England gift WI a first innings lead.

For tail-enders pitch the ball up, in the block-hole, not short and wide.

What score will be enough? I don't think you can tell, WI have some form on chasing big targets.

We are in the box-seat with Brook and ever-dependable Root, but it is in the balance a coule of wickets could change everything.

The reason why test match cricket is so compelling.
